Beth Hart

Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing singer from rock. She performed on the streets and was first noticed by Immortal in 1995. Her raw, outspoken performance, emotional and empathetic live performances have attracted the attention of fans. Chuck Taylor wrote that Hart was "the embodiment of natural women" in the October 2nd, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine. She is "bawdy humorous, funny, charming and a free-wheeler when it comes to her choice of spicing up her words. But that's a lot of white bread when as compared to her presence on stage that is where the tall, gaunt singer/songwriter struts and squalls out songs with the vim of Mick Jagger .... At times, she's taken her place at the piano or center stage, where she sits without a hint of pretense, her legs draped across the edges of the chair, her voice that is so tender and painful that you're wondering whether she's going to weep or perhaps you'll. Hart has experienced similar reactions since the moment she took on stage at amateur contests in her teen years. However, Hart was skeptical about the industry of music before it was finally an international success. Hart ended up losing her band after performing around the world proved be damaging. Hart was forced to be away from the limelight for almost four years. Hart spent this time contemplating her future, writing music as well as addressing personal issues. After that, determined to give her professional career a second chance, she came back in 1999 with the highly acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper which showed Hart's songwriting talents grow with honest, vulnerable songs about dealing with life's challenges.
